Justin Hermanson

Justin Hermanson began his rodeo career in his early teens. The Kathryn, N.D.
cowboy joined the National High School Rodeo Association as a freshman, and
continued to compete in the high school ranks throughout his high school days.
Hermanson earned a spot in the National High School Rodeo Association Finals
in his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Hermanson made rodeo history when
he won the high school title in 2000, after his Father, Darrell, won the high school
title in 1973, making the pair the only father and son to ever win the high school
championship.

Hermanson is carrying on a rodeo tradition in his family. "Dad's side of the family
grew up in rodeo," he said, and he has uncles and cousins that are also continuing
the family tradition of rodeo. He tried playing basketball in high school, but when
a coach told him he would have to choose bull riding or basketball during the winter
months, he chose bull riding.

Hermanson has been riding in Championship Bull Riding events for three years and
qualified for the 2006 Finals in Las Vegas. He bought his Professional Rodeo Cowboys
Association permit in 1999 and his PRCA card the following year. He attended Southwest
Oklahoma State at Weatherford, Okla., where he majored in parks and recreation, and where
he was coached for one year by Doc Mitchell. "That was a pretty neat deal," Hermanson said
of his association with Mitchell.

When he's not on the road Hermanson enjoys fishing and golf. He said he would have like to
have had the opportunity to get on Little Yellow Jacket before he was retired. The two bulls
he would also like to draw are War Dance and Pandora's Box. "They are the best bulls going
now in the CBR," he said.

Although he got off to a good start in the 2007 season by scoring 90-points on Harlan
Robertson's Montigo Bay in the first round in Bossier City, La., the first event of the current
season, then returned for the short go where he again scored 90-points, that time on White
Chocolate, another bull in Robertson's pen, an injury now has Hermanson sidelined. He
injured his shoulder at the CBR event in Fort Worth, and aggravated the injury during the
CBR event in College Station, Texas and the decided to have surgery in May to repair the
injury.
