Injury Report for April 2009

· Back in February at Rapid City, South Dakota PRCA event Chance Smart of Philadelphia, Mississippi was knocked unconscious for about 30 minutes. Chance was in the hospital for several days with his wife, Sommer by his side. Chance traveled back to Mississippi after being released from the hospital for the past month. He came to the Ft.Worth CBR and realized he was not quite ready to compete. He then tried to return once again at the Houston Xtreme event March 22 and decided his vision was still not correct. He has complained of double vision and has decided to have eye surgery April 3rd to fix the problem and get back to business. Look for Chance back in May at the Del Rio, Texas CBR event.

 · On February 15, Danell Tipton of Spencer, Oklahoma was in a car wreck when a vehicle ran him off the interstate and flipped his vehicle. He was transported to the hospital where he suffered a neck injury, collar bone injury, busted nose and a few stitches. He plans on returning in the next month to competition.

 · Prior to the Lufkin CBR event in February, Matt Austin made two trips to the hospital with pneumonia. Matt was sick for about two weeks before making a come back in the winner’s circle in Ft. Worth, Texas not only in the bull riding but also in the NBBA event having the winning bull an making it a $15,000 weekend.

 · Seth Reynolds of Willow Springs, MO. has been out of the arena due to a groin injury. Seth plans on returning in May.

· Logan Knibbe of Stephenville, Texas has been sidelined from two sepreate injuries. At the Lufkin CBR event, Logan was stepped on in his right side/abdomen area. Logan refused a trip to the hospital that night, to then later decide the next day he was feeling so good and got his girlfriend, Stephanie to take him in. At the hospital he received several x-rays and an MRI to reveal just severe internal bruising. Then after returning back to the arena at a PRCA event pulled his groin muscle and is out for an undetermined time. If I had to guess I would bet on seeing Logan in Del Rio on May 2nd.

· Stormy Wing was the first one of the group to go down with injuries at Rodeo Houston. After having an awesome winter run Stormy tore his bicep muscle in his arm and had surgery in Dallas on March 24, Stormy will be out of competition for 4-6 months.

 · Kanin Asay was another one who got injured in Houston. Kanin got stepped on causing an elbow/shoulder injury. After talking with Kanin he only plans on sitting out 1-2 weeks.

 · Our own CBR Sound Man-Cody Kidd suffered a fractured leg/ankle. You ask, how does the sound man break his foot when he is not even competing? He falls off the announcer’s stand!!! I think we are going to have to put a safety belt on him from now on.

· Mike Moore has doctor released out of several rodeo’s~I have not talked to him but he has been having some trouble with his hips so I will try to check on him & let you know in next month’s issue.

 · Clayton Williams tore his shoulder out and underwent shoulder surgery in Dallas on March 31st. Just talked to Kristen (wife) a few hours ago and he continued to still be in a good bit of pain, but was released from the hospital and back at home resting.
