Fort Worth, Texas (May 3, 2009) ~ They call it the World's Greatest Bull Riding, and today, the second day of the 32nd Annual George Paul Memorial lived up to every bit of its name.  A new champion was crowned in Del Rio, TX and he hails not far from Del Rio, from the country of Mexico, Hugo Pedrero.

Hugo from Leon Juanajuato, Mexico scored an 87 on Nickleback (SB) Saturday evening. He then came back to score an 87.5 on Unicorn (TLH) on Sunday afternoon. He was one of only two riders to ride three for the event scoring 90.5 on Red Eye giving him a 265 total.

“Thank you to everyone who came out to support me. I love Mexico and I love competing in the CBR,“ he said in front of a cheering crowd.

Hugo took some unwanted time off the CBR Tour last year due to a hand injury, recuperating at his home in Mexico.  He’s back competing in several events already this year, determined to make a go at the CBR World Champion Title.

All in all Sunday afternoon there were 18 qualifying rides and four thrilling 90 or plus rides in the short go. The highest mark ride of the George Paul Memorial goes to Steve Woosley who rode Cat Daddy (MR) to a 92 on Sunday afternoon. 

Bull of the event was Cocktail, Cervi Championship Rodeo/Trent West, with a high a 47.5 scored by the judges.
