Trey Holston Takes the Lead

Championship Bull Riding (CBR) has seen its share of young blood and talent over the years and 18 year old rookie Trey Holston of Fort Scott, Kansas has reaped the benefits of being new to the CBR scene. After seven events in the 2018 Road to Cheyenne season, Holston has become the new World Standings leader.

Last weekend in his home state at the Showdown in Salina, Holston earned enough points to pass three time 2018 CBR event champion, Cody Jesus of Window Rock, AZ. “I am very excited to have obtained the number one position in the CBR World Standings, especially in my home state!” exclaimed Holston. “This is a very good thing, with nothing locked in, I need to keep my head tucked and keep grinding because the season isn’t over yet.”

Holston, two time Kansas State High School (2016, 2017) and 2017 National High School Finals Rodeo bull riding champion remains focused to hold on to the number one spot. CBR has several events on the schedule before the World Finals in Cheyenne.

Championship Bull Riding has implemented a change in point’s standings, allowing CBR Horizon series points to accumulate for the Road to Cheyenne Tour. This adjustment levels the playing field for all hopeful riders eager to make it to the famous Cheyenne Frontier Days in July. The chance to win $100,000 is unimaginable for most young bull riders, but it is a dream that is close to becoming a reality for Trey.

“Between Cody Jesus, Koby Radley and Matt Palmer, there are a lot of heavy hitters shooting for the same thing as me.” As he has shown over the last seven season events, his motivation is clear- “Don’t give up even with a wired shut, broken jaw” laughed Holston.

Upcoming events include the Show-Me- State Shootout in Lebanon, Missouri on April 7th and Bucking for the Cure in Las Cruces, New Mexico on May 5th and Trey is determined to maintain his lead.
