Richardson Shines with Second Win in a Row

The Tony’s Pizza Events Center attendees experienced quite a “show” Saturday night in Salina, making the name fitting. Over 30 cowboys and 15 CBR bull teams traveled to Kansas to compete for a total over $80,000 in prize money. Bull riders showed up to dominate the best bucking bulls in the industry and by the end of the night it was Braden Richardson who took home the win.

Feeling the energy from the almost sold out crowd, Koby Radley from Montpelier, LA set the pace for the night with a 87.5 point ride on Rawson/Obernagel/Daisy's Bucking Bulls Spanky followed by Aaron Pass of Kaufman, TX tying up the long round on Dirty Little Secret owned by Long Creek Outfitters/Harris/

CBR Bull Team Challenge livestock overpowered CBR bull riders in the first round with only a third of the riders advancing to the short round based on qualified rides, bucking off twenty-three riders.

Bringing back five cowboys to the Short Round on time ridden, it was a close race for all who qualified in the final round, resulting in only five riders who survived the whistle. Kansas native Trey Holston, the new leader in the Road to Cheyenne Tour standings, trailed by only one point behind Braden Richardson. Ultimately the Jasper, TX cowboy Richardson took the win, thrilling the crowd with his 89.5 round winning ride on Arkansas Flash of Rio Vista Rodeo & Equipment/Barrett & Willis.  This is the second Road to Cheyenne Tour win for the Richardson.

Last night’s competition was part of the CBR Bull Team Challenge (BTC). With a prize purse of $56,250, stock contractors compete with three bulls that are featured during two rounds of competition. The bulls receive points for their performance and additionally, the time the bull rider stays on is combined to the bull’s score. At the end of competition, the total bull team scores determine the BTC Champion. Rawson/Obernagel/Daisy's Bucking Bulls received first place in the bull team competition with a check of $23,000.00.
