Comeback Kid Wins Lufkin Bull Bash

The stands were packed to the rafters for a great night of bull riding in Lufkin, Texas for Bull Bash 2013 and Texas cowboy Trey Benton is the triumphant winner of the evening. Benton deemed “comeback kid” has been out of the arena for nearly six weeks after being seriously injured in Fort Worth . Benton suffered several facial fractures and underwent reconstructive surgery and then relapsed with an infection which sent him back to the operating room and now one day after been cleared by doctors rides two to win the Lufkin Championship.

“I feel great to be back and do so well after all I have been through these last few weeks,” said Benton after accepting his check and Hy O Silver buckle. “I’m looking forward to recovering completely and getting back into competition and winning some more.”

Benton was the only cowboy to go two for two for the evening but was unlucky in the championship round and was unable to cover three. (Lumberjack, Rawson Bucking Bulls, 90-Black Slinger, Crowded & Reagan, 87.5). This was Bentons second appearance on the “Road To Cheyenne Tour”, and his first win of the season.

No rider was able to cover a bull in the championship round and so over $20,000 will carry over to the next Tour event in Dodge City in three weeks.

The Palace Station Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge win goes to EG & Team Whisnant and they also take home high marked bull honors for their bull Ragin JT.

The “Road To Cheyenne Tour” resumes on March 16 in Dodge City- log on to CBRBull.com for more results and scores.
