Clint Craig Sets Lubbock On Fire

Championship Bull Riding stormed into Lubbock, TX for the second stop on the CINCH CBR Tour “Road to Cheyenne”.  Last week it was the rookie who won and this week the veteran takes the buckle. Clint Craig of Mena, Arkansas came back to the arena after taking most of the year off  in 2011 due to injuries and it looks as if the time off served him well. Craig looked healthy on his two rides this evening. The first came on the King/Herrington bull, Directory Assistance where he earned an 87.
“This is my favorite bull and I really looked forward to getting on him this evening,” stated Craig earlier in the evening. “He’s a great bull, and fun to ride. It’s just a pleasure.”
Craig was back in the CINCH Championship round on Palace Station John Doe, the Hurst Rodeo Co. bull, for 89. His combined score was 176 and after several other unsuccessful qualified rides in the short round, this secured his win.
“It feels great to be back. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the tour has in store for me,” said Craig after his win. Incidentally, Craig is the only rider who rode in the very first CBR event and is still on the tour.
The record crowd was treated to several exciting rides tonight. Hometown boy and CBR star, Chandler Bownds scored a 91 on Pale Face Jose. Pale Face Jose wins Bull of Event honors and is owned by Johnson/Cooper/Allstar/Scruggs. The high marked bull of the night came in the short go with Bugle, Talbert Bucking Bulls.
The Palace Station Million Dollar Bull Team paid out $75,000 in Lubbock and the big check goes to Hurst Rodeo Co.
Henry Rifles honored veteran Larry Tredway as an American Hero tonight. Mr. Tredway served in the US Army during Vietnam and currently resides in Lubbock with his wife Jane.
