Championship Bull Riding participates in ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”

Fort Worth, Texas (December 16, 2008) Championship Bull Riding, Inc. (CBR) today announced their participation in ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’s” latest project. The Augustin family was notified Monday, December 8, that they were chosen as the newest recipients of a new home.

Arlington-based Wall Homes Inc. is the builder for the new home located in Keller, Texas. Hundreds of volunteers will help build the new residence for the deserving family in less than seven days. In fact, the builders only have one week to complete the demolition and construction of the new home. The original dwelling had been badly damaged by flood, causing the family to leave their home last year.

“CBR is honored to be involved in such a worthy project. As soon as we found out about it, we immediately wanted to help,” states Sarah Logan, Director of Marketing for the CBR.

CBR first got involved in the project by sponsoring at the local level through the builder, Wall Homes, to help offset some of the costs of building the new home. One of the producers from the show later contacted CBR again to assist in the demolition of the current house.

Six CBR bull riders including Luke Haught, Chad Castillo, Logan Knibbe and Dave Samsel were on hand for the event, but two riders received special attention. Bonner Bolton, 2007 CBR World Champion, was horseback and part of the opening demolition ceremonies. However, it was Kolt Miller, 2006 World Championship Event Winner, who stole the show as he boarded a D9 “bull”dozer and rode to victory.

CBR’s own Cody Sosebee, barrel man, drove over seven hours from his home in Fort Smith, Arkansas to be a part of the activities. “Well it was a small sacrifice of my time to give to the Augustin family who gives all of their time to a special cause. I have a soft spot in my heart for lil’ cowboys who look up to us. The blessing I received from being a part of the project will be with me forever!”

ABC’s Emmy-award winning hit reality show selected the Augustin’s as part of its current “Heroes in the Community” season. Amber Augustin founded the non-profit “Tiny Works of Heart” and Peter Augustin, a proud advocate for Amber’s foundation, also dedicates his time to Habitat for Humanity.

On Fathers Day of 2007, the Augustin’s home and the garage that served as Amber’s foundation photography studio were flooded. Amber, Peter, and their three children (Cameron, 16; Emily, 11; and Lane, four) were forced to vacate. They were informed that their home would have to be raised more than one foot for them to be able to live there again, but the high costs made it prohibitive for the family.

ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” design team (Ty Pennington, and fellow teammates Paul DiMeo, Tracy Hutson, Eduardo Xol, and John Littlefield) as well as Wall Homes Inc., and hundreds of volunteers are working 24 hours a day to have the home ready to reveal to the Augustin family on Monday, December 15, otherwise known as “Move That Bus” day.
