DEL RIO, Texas – (April 28, 2017) -  Tonight CBR Bull Team Franchises will unload their bulls into the back pens of the Val Verde Fairgrounds where for forty years of great bucking bulls have stepped off forty foot stock trailers. But never have the stakes been as high as they are this year at the 2017 George Paul Memorial Bull Riding.

Friday night’s winning bull team will receive a check for $20,000 and Saturday night’s bull team champion receives a $40,000 check, but more important than the money, the teams are competing for the chance to win more money! In addition to the $135,000 worth of checks being written to bull team owners in Del Rio, the winning bull team will get an automatic entry into the CBR World Finals at Cheyenne Frontier Days where the pot increases to $300,000.

In addition to the rider competition, the high stakes at the George Paul Memorial gives fans a glimpse of the best bucking bulls currently traveling on the professional tours. Each bull in Del Rio has to pass 4 time World Champion bull rider and two time George Paul former Champion, Tuff Hedeman’s strict standards for the event.

This year’s winner on Saturday night will win a RAM 2500 4X4 Super Bull Truck presented by the George Paul Memorial Bull Riding, sponsored by Championship Bull Riding and made available by Ram Country Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Del Rio. But that is not all, the CBR staff will be on hand to load the back of the truck with a HyO custom engraved trophy buckle, a custom engraved Juan Munoz Andrade saddle, custom Fenoglio Boots, an American hat, and a check for $20,000.

The twelve teams have arrived at the George Paul Memorial Bull Riding in Del Rio with their highly decorated team of buckers for what last year’s winners refer to as “the greatest bull riding on earth.”

“George Paul was one of the greatest bull riders that ever lived and competed in our sport, and it is like being a part of history to load your bulls in the old wooden chutes at the George Paul and be a part of that history,” said the Heath Scoggins, the 2016 winner of the CBR Cheyenne Challenge at Del Rio.

Three time Stock Contractor of the Year, Mike Rawson, who will be in Del Rio to attempt his third win of the George Paul Memorial Bull riding bull team Championship, added that he loves the fans and the general atmosphere in Del Rio and says he looks forward to it every year.

In addition to the elite riders brought in by Hedeman, the annual bull riding features the highly popular Bull Team Challenge where three bulls make up one team and the bovine athletes compete for scores alongside the riders plus points for seconds ridden. At the end of the night the team with the highest aggregate score wins.

The Championship Bull Riding Bull Team Challenge was designed by CBR to create bigger prizes, more money, and a fun healthy atmosphere along the Road to Cheyenne televised tour and the Del Rio stop is the bull men’s last chance at qualifying for the CBR World Finals to be held in Cheyenne in July which is worth over $300,000 to the bulls and their owners for two days of competition..

While the teams all have unique strategy, three time stock contractor of the year Mike Rawson’s is simple and he preaches a stock contractor has to have consistency, backups and bull variety to provide a successful string of buckers for the Road to Cheyenne.

“The pressure is doubled at the George Paul so we all bring our best bulls,” continued Rawson.

With trust, honesty and friendship, the CBR Stock Contractors build success for their teams and the bull rider athletes by creating qualified rides to entertain the fans.

Bull teams boast partners from all corners of the business, and one advocates communication and working, celebrating and suffering together. The 2017 bull team World Champion, Jeff Harris of Rafter J had this to say about the CBR bull teams. “We live, eat and compete together, we appreciate our friends in the competition and are genuinely happy for them when they come out on top.”

CBR Chairman of the Board. Benny Cude. believes the structure of the events CBR produces advocates good bucking bulls. “It is an awesome atmosphere for a good bull rider because of the uniformity of the bulls. “
