The Challenge of Championship Pro Rodeo

Championship Pro Rodeo (CPR) is a name well known to the members of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). They are recognized for their even set of pens during the rough stock events that showcase the PRCA cowboys in competition within a high octane energy driven environment.

Championship Pro Rodeo, owned by stock contractors Benny Cude and Zach Craig, produce a nationwide series of rodeos that concentrate on quality production, superior entertainment, and born to buck livestock.

Aiming to make their horses and bulls the caliber of stock the contestants are looking to get on, in 2016 CPR produced the Great Lakes Circuit Finals, seven PRCA rodeos, and one stand-alone bull riding, the Isanti Xtreme Bull competition in addition to competing in fifteen Championship Bull Riding Bull Team Challenge competitions on the Road to Cheyenne, the CBR’s televised pro bull riding tour.

“If we can bring top tiered cowboys to these small town rodeos it’s a win for the fans, the rodeo committees, the contestants and our company,” said Zach Craig, co-owner of Championship Pro Rodeo.

Championship Pro Rodeo sponsors world class athletes including National Finals Rodeo qualifiers Brennon Eldred, and World Champions Sage Kimzey and Cody Teel. In addition to their brands on three of the top fifteen bull riders, CPR arrived in Las Vegas with two bulls in the draw, 1137 Cowbanger and 21x1 The Duke.

Both bulls are unridden in PRCA competition and according to some of the cowboys who have tried them the bulls will probably stay in that column of statistics. According to one rider, 1137 frazzles your mind between moves and you can’t think faster than him while trying to make the ride.

CPR’s second bull in the draw this year is a bull born and raised on Cude’s 7 Rocking X Ranch in Priddy Texas known simply as “The Duke”

“You are going to have to match him move for move. He is small, but fast so u don’t want him to beat you – any, he’s a good young bull and you should ride him and be in high 80’s every time, but if you stub your toe, just a little, he’ll throw you,” texted first-year NFR contestant Cody Rostockyj.

“I think Scottie Knapp fits him,” said Craig regarding who could possibly make the whistle on him in Vegas.

The goal of CPR rodeos is to focus on something different every year for the openings and specialty acts – change it up so the fans see something new, it is very family friendly and we shoot for no mistakes, we run a tight show and we stay on top of every detail,” said Craig, a Texas resident with an Oklahoma address.

“We are proud to produce seven long standing rodeos mostly small hometown rodeos where the stands are full,” said Cude who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Championship Bull Riding.

Benny Cude and Zach Craig have bucked their way into the professional rodeo world on separate paths and with different strengths and fused their talents together to manage their rodeo company.

Benny Cude breeds and raises approximately 200 head of livestock every year on his ranch in Priddy, Texas. CPR has approximately 75 head of bucking horses to add to the established and successful bucking bull breeding programs put together by both Cude and Craig. Cude and Craig’s extensive breeding experience allows them to concentrate on quality not quantity, resulting in a higher percentage of success in their “born to buck “breeding program.

Many of the most acclaimed animals in the livestock performance arenas have been courtesy of Cude’s 7 Rocking X Ranch located in Priddy, Texas and managed by Zach Craig.

CPR sports bloodlines from two former #1 ranked bull on Probullstats, Shakedown, and 2014 Bull of the Year 8034 Penny Lover. Wearing the CPR brand are many bovines that are very familiar with the top 15 cowboys now in Vegas for the NFR.

Craig who has been involved in all aspects of livestock and rodeo production has bred, trained or flanked bulls that have won, over $600,000 including 846 Black Betty, and 813 Crazy Mother Trucker and this year, Cowbanger finished as a top 5 finalist in the PRCA’s 2016 Bull of the Year.

Craig, the managing partner has had buckers competing on all levels of professional bull riding. Some of his most recent super stars include, NFR bulls 8388 Seeing Red and 9100 Kojack, the 2015 CBR Bucking Bull of the Year 050 Gold Buckle and 2015 NFR bull, 526 One More Dip, and 898 Swamp Dog.

Currently Cude, the majority stock holder and Chief Executive Officer of Championship Bull Riding, annually produces more than forty stand-alone bull ridings nationwide. Combined Cude and Craig won over $175,000 at the CBR World Finals last year and finished as the number one and two ranked bull teams for 2015. Cude’s Penny Lover was the 2014 CBR Bull of the Year while Craig’s, Ragin JT, was runner up.
