National Finals Rodeo Qualifiers and World Champion Bull Riders Return to Jackson

Jackson bull riding fans will have the rare opportunity to see extraordinary cowboy athletes at the Oman Arena less than one month after they compete at the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association’s Super Bowl of rodeo, the National Finals Rodeo. Tickets are on sale now for the 20th Annual Bud Light Classic Championship Bull Riding Presented by Alan Vines Automotive. Scheduled to compete in Jackson are several of the top ranked professional championship bull riders in the world including the reigning CBR and PRCA World Champion, Sage Steele Kimzey, and National Finals Rodeo qualifier and defending Bud Light Champion, Cody Rostockyj, and local favorite Corey Bailey. The fans will have two opportunities to see these extreme athletes as they are in town for two performances on January 13 and 14 at 8 pm.

“If you can’t get to Las Vegas to the NFR, you can see as many as five of the same bull riders right here in middle Tennessee less than a month later,” said CBR’s Chief Executive Officer and event producer Benny Cude. Local fans are always cheering on Corey Bailey, the Paris, Tennessee cowboy who has finished in the top ten in the World Standings since 2013 and this year we have a new rookie, Colt Galvan from Lenoir City.

With 30 years of bull riding history on his resume, Tuff Hedeman is one of the most recognizable cowboys in the history of rodeo, but he defers to the young super stars that are currently the CBR and PRCA World Champions as the best bull riding talent he has seen in over 15 years.

“Kimzey is a rare talent who rides fundamentally flawless and Teel has the heart and determination of a champion every time he pulls his rope,” said Tuff Hedeman, the 4 time World Champion Bull Rider who now produces the nationally televised Road to Cheyenne Tour events and will be in Jackson next month.

This year’s event is the seventh stop on Championship Bull Riding’s (CBR) Road to Cheyenne Tour, which pits the industry’s elite riders against the best bulls in three round tournament style action. Pre event activities begin when the doors open at 6:00 and action gets underway at 8:00 p.m.

The field of competition starts with 24 riders, then 12 and finally 4 in the Shoot Out where they will battle for the lion’s share of $30,000 in prize money. The night’s excitement will culminate as the final four bull riders will get a third opportunity to ride in a winner take all ending. The format appeals to new spectators and established fans alike because riders can challenge as many as three bulls in one performance.

In addition to lucrative prize money, bull riders accumulate points which qualify them for the World Finals, part of the legendary Cheyenne Frontier Days celebration held in Wyoming next July worth over $500,000 to cowboy and stock contractors bonus.

But if you cheer for the bulls and not the riders and like the see the power of the “other side of the ride,” from the front row the Bud Light Classic CBR also features the CBR’s Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge. Bull owners from all around the country will bring three bulls that are featured during the first two rounds of competition. The super star bulls including World Champion bulls and NFR bulls will compete for points based on their performance in the arena and the owner with the three highest-scoring bulls will receive $20,000.

CBR has become known for their action-packed performances that keep fans on the edge of their seats and every time Tuff Hedeman and the boys return to Jackson it is always a great show! From having world class bulls matched up with super star riders, to upbeat music and an entertaining professional barrel man, the fans will experience a first class athletic competition with a few show surprises here and there.

Tickets on sale now at Rustic Soul, and and range in price from $20 with a variety of ticket packages available including kids 6 and under are free admission. Fans are encouraged to get their tickets now as the show is expected to be a sell-out.
