No. 1 Ranked Bull Rider in the World Set to Ride in Laughlin

Three rounds of heart pounding non-stop action is coming back to the banks of the Colorado River. The 2016 Championship Bull Riding Road to Cheyenne televised tour is making its third trip to the Laughlin, Nevada Events Center on September 10, for the Colorado River Chute Out Presented by the Laughlin Tourism Commission.

This year’s edition of the Colorado River Chute Out will feature twenty-four of the best bull riders in the world which includes four time World Champion, Sage Steele Kimzey from Strong City, Oklahoma, former World Champion Josh Barentine, and the Louisiana cowboy, Jacob O’Mara who came close to unseating Kimzey on the Road to Cheyenne in 2016.

“This is a great opportunity for fans to see the same top bull riders in the country challenge as many as three bulls in one night. Many of these same cowboys will be back in December for the super bowl of rodeo, the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas,” said CBR Chief Executive Officer, Benny Cude.

Kimzey who earned his fourth World Champion Bull Riding title riding all five of his bull in July at the CBR’s World Finals at Cheyenne Frontier Days is also the reigning World Champion and currently the number one ranked rider in the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association.

“When I show up my job is to ride bulls, I have dedicated ninety percent of my life to riding bulls and honing my craft to be in the position I am in today, I love what I do and there is no other better job in the world than getting to ride bulls,” said Kimzey after winning the CBR World Finals in July.

This year’s event is the third stop on the twelve month 2016 Championship Bull Riding’s (CBR) Road to Cheyenne Tour which pits the industry’s elite riders against the industry’s best bulls handpicked by four-time World Champion and Pro Rodeo Hall of Famer and CBR Chute Boss, Tuff Hedeman.

The event follows a three round tournament style format featuring a four man Shoot Out finale with a purse of over $30,000 in cash and prizes.

The CBR event in Laughlin will also feature the “other side of the ride,” CBR’s Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge. Bull owners from all around the country will bring three bulls that are featured during the first two rounds of competition. The bulls are competing for points based on their performance in the arena. Additionally, the time the bull rider stays on is added to the bull’s score. At the end of the night, the owner with the three highest-scoring bulls will receive $20,000.

The doors will open at the Laughlin Events Center at 6:30 p.m. with the bull riding action getting underway at 8:00 p.m.

Entertainment includes three cowboy lifesavers, the Get Famous Energy Bullfighters, mid round funny man entertainment and audience giveaways from top western apparel companies and sponsors.

Top ranked bull riders will be signing autographs immediately following the 8 p.m. performance.
