Hurst and Baker’s 285 Wreck ‘Em

At about 2 pm on Saturday April 8, 2016, 26 elite bull riders will be scrolling through their smartphones, iPads, and computers to see what bull’s name and brand number appears next to theirs on the draw sheet of the 24th Annual Tuff Hedeman Fort Worth Championship Challenge Bull Riding.

Known for hauling in the best bulls available for his legendary Fort Worth event, Tuff Hedeman’s selection for the 2016 event includes Lyndal Hurst’s hot new four year old bull #285 Wreck ‘Em.

“He is right there to the left every time he leaves the chutes,” promised Lyndal Hurst of Hurst and Baker CBR Bull Team.

Wreck ‘Em, whose name was inspired by the Texas Tech sports slogan, Wreck ‘Em Red, is sired by War Bucks and out of a Lightening Jack daughter. This young bull has been the talk of the locker room since his first appearance last August in Huron South Dakota.

Thus far on the Road to Cheyenne, 285 has carried three of the top riders to high scores advancing them to the semifinal and final rounds on the televised tour.

After Wreck ‘Em found success in the aged competitive circuits, Hurst and Hatchett partnered on this bred to buck bull whose sire bloodlines go back to some of the industry’s legendary bulls - Big Bucks, Gunslinger and Alley Cat.

Newt Brasfield was the first to try the former futurity calf bred and raised by Gary Hatchett of Lubbock and Wreck ‘Em won the battle after 3.14 seconds in Huron.

Cody Teel was the first to get on Wreck ‘Em in 2016 and the first to ride him in CBR competition. Teel rode him for 89 points in Hobbs, New Mexico. He was part of Jacob O’Mara’s winning night in Rio Rancho. O’Mara rode him for 87.5. Juan Alonzo couldn’t get by him in Lufkin and bucked off in 5.33 seconds.

His bull scores would indicate he is getting comfortable on the CBR Road to Cheyenne as he posted his highest bull score, 45, in Las Vegas with Neil Holmes riding him for 89 points. But when asking what his best trip has been this season, Hurst reserved the right to comment until after Fort Worth.

You can see Wreck ‘Em at the Tuff Hedeman Championship Challenge Bull Riding in the Fort Worth Stockyards Cowtown Coliseum at 8 pm on Saturday, April 9, 2016. Tickets will be available at the Cowtown Coliseum Box Office.
