No. 1 Ranked Bull Rider Sage Kimzey Headed to Salina Bicentennial Center

Enjoying his own version of March Madness, three time World Champion Bull Rider Sage Steele Kimzey will arrive in Salina to attempt to add to the $100,000 pot of gold he has earned this month while riding bulls.

$30,000 is up for grabs Saturday night at the inaugural Championship Showdown in Salina and you will not want to miss the twenty-six cowboys that will be trying to keep more money from going into the record breaking pockets of the 21-year-old Kimzey.

Four-time World Champion Bull Rider and Pro Rodeo Hall of Famer, Tuff Hedeman, is bringing the
top bull riders in the industry for the inaugural Championship Bull Riding Road Showdown in Salina to be held on March 26 at the Salina Bicentennial Center in Salina, Kansas.

The single performance event will feature three rounds of non-stop bull riding action and in addition to great bull riding talent, Hedeman is bringing in 5 time rodeo entertainer of the year nominee, Cody Sosebee, and the voice of the CBR, Chris Rankin with rodeo announcer Chris Pyle to call the play-by-play action from the announcer’s booth in Salina.

In addition, CBR offers fans a rare opportunity to see two of the sport’s elite athletes. The reigning CBR World Champion and 2015 NFR Average Champion, Cody Teel, will challenge the two-time PRCA World Champion and the 2014 CBR World Champion, Sage Kimzey. These cowboys left Las Vegas last December No. 1 and 2 and have been duking it out on the dirt every weekend since.

“Kimzey is a rare talent who rides basically flawless and Teel has the heart and determination of a champion every time he pulls his rope,” said Hedeman, the four-time World Champion Bull Rider who now produces the nationally televised Road to Cheyenne tour events.

This event will not only feature the two highly decorated World Champion Bull Riders, each with over $1 million in earnings, but the current No. 2 ranked rider Cody Rostockyj, who will be in town trying to earn his No. 1 ranking back after a hot streak that lasted from August to February.

“I really like this style of competition,” said two-time World Champion, Cody Teel. “Nothing is given to you in this sport and you have to take every opportunity when you get it, it can be a test getting on three bulls in one night, but being the last guy out if you are, it is all in your hands. The CBR brings great bulls and that sure helps.”

In addition to the lucrative prize money, bull riders accumulate points which qualify them for the World Finals, part of the legendary Cheyenne Frontier Days celebration held in Wyoming next July. At the end of the World Finals the contestant who has the most points will be crowned the CBR World Champion and receive a $100,000 bonus.

THE BULLS
The Salina event will also feature the “other side of the ride,” CBR’s Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge. Bull owners from all around the country will bring three bulls that are featured during the rounds of competition. The bulls are competing for points based on their performance. The owner with the three highest scoring bulls will receive $20,000.

CBR has become known for their action packed performances that keep fans on the edge of their seats and with this new show debuting in Salina, the CBR Salina event is set to impress. From having great bulls matched up with super star riders, to upbeat music and enthusiastic fans, there is something for everyone at the CBR in Salina.
