World Champion Bull Riders to be Challenged by Louisiana Cowboy

CBR Ambassador, chute boss and event commander Tuff Hedeman is one of the most recognizable cowboys in the history of rodeo. In recent years, he has made a name for himself in the production of great bull riding events and on February 20, he is bringing the Eldorado Resort Casino Shreveport Tuff Hedeman Championship Bull Riding Presented by Landers Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM to Northeast Louisiana. Immediately following the bull riding will be a concert featuring country music artist Cody Cooke and the Bayou Outlaws.

The 4-time World Champion Bull Rider and Pro Rodeo Hall of Famer is readying the CenturyLink Center for the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked bull riders in the world, Sage Kimzey (Strong City, Okla.) and Cody Teel (Kountze, Tex.) and Prairieville, Louisiana’s Jacob O’Mara who recently broke into the top rankings with two event wins on the CBR Road to Cheyenne.

But together their five World Champion belt buckles will not help them when they battle the No. 1 ranked rider on the CBR tour, Cody Rostockyj of Lorena, Texas, who earned that title in September and will be in Bossier to defend his ranking. The three super stars will oppose a competitive field of 25 additional riders which includes top ten rider Jacob O’Mara who won his first CBR event championship in January in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. The bull riders arriving in Bossier will be competing for their lion’s share of the $30,000 purse and a custom Hyo Silver trophy buckle.

This year’s event will include several National Finals Rodeo (NFR) qualifiers battling the champs including CBR Finals Average winner and currently No. 4 in the CBR standings, Brennon Eldred of Sulphur, Okla. two-time NFR qualifier Trey Benton, Rock Island, Tex., three-time NFR qualifier Chandler Bownds from Lubbock, Tex., and Jeffery Ramagos from Zachary, Louis., who will also be competing.

The CBR Road to Cheyenne televised tour event pits the industry’s elite riders against the best bulls in a three round tournament style format featuring over 60 hand-picked bucking bulls who will be competing alongside the bull riders for an additional $45,000 in prize monies.

This year’s event is the eleventh stop on the Championship Bull Riding (CBR) Road to Cheyenne Tour. The bull riding will be held at the CenturyLink Center. Doors open at 6:00 and action gets underway at 8:00 p.m. A stick-bull riding competition for the kids will get underway at 6 pm with the finals held during intermission. The young stick-bull riders will show us their best imitation of their favorite bull rider as they buck out of miniature chutes with the winner taking home the grand prize, a Tuff Hedeman Championship Belt Buckle. Enter the stick-bull by emailing bullridingevents@aol.com for more information, limited contestants being accepted.

In addition to lucrative prize money, bull riders accumulate points which qualify them for the World Finals, part of the legendary Cheyenne Frontier Days celebration held in Wyoming next July. At the end of the World Finals, the contestant who has the most points will be crowned the world champion and receive a $100,000 bonus.

The Bossier event will also feature the “other side of the ride,” CBR’s Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge. Bull owners from all around the country will bring three bulls that are featured during the first two rounds of competition. The bulls are competing for points based on their performance in the arena. Additionally, the time the bull rider stays on is added to the bull’s score. At the end of the night, the owner with the three highest-scoring bulls will receive $20,000 of the $45,000 purse.

CBR has become known for their action-packed performances that keep fans on the edge of their seats. That is largely due to the influence of four-time World Champion Bull Rider Tuff Hedeman who coordinates every element and attends to the smallest details. From having great bulls matched up with super star riders, to upbeat music and enthusiastic fans. There is something for everyone at the Eldorado Resort Casino Shreveport Tuff Hedeman Championship Bull Riding.
