Anti-Bullying Campaign in El Paso with Tuff Hedeman and Bull Riders

(Feb. 2, 2016 -El Paso, TX.) – After eight stops on the CBR Road to Cheyenne, the Fox Sports televised tour rolls into El Paso this weekend with the top ranked professional championship bull riders preparing for their sports’ version of a heavy weight prize fight on the dirt of the El Paso County Coliseum Saturday February 6th, 2016 at the 11th Annual Casa Ford Tuff Hedeman Championship Bull Riding Presented by Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino.
The competition is tight and each of the top three ranked riders are just one bull ride away from taking the lead of the World Standings. Cody Rostockyj of Lorena, Texas retains the No. 1 ranking, a position title he earned in August on the second stop of the Road to Cheyenne World Finals. The reigning CBR World Champ and 2012 Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) Champion, Cody Teel is in second place after riding one more bull last weekend than the 2014 CBR World Champion Sage Kimzey, who is the reigning Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) World Champion Bull Rider. But hot on their heels is the nineteen year Southeastern Oklahoma college student Wyatt Rogers of Rose, Oklahoma who has ridden every bull Tuff Hedeman has assigned him since January 1.
While fans will be meeting the riders around town this week, local elementary school students will be hearing the story of Bill the Bull. Bill wants to be a bucking bull. There’s only one problem, he’s nice to everyone. The other bucking bulls make fun of Bill and insist he would be no good as bucking stock unless he were mean; bullies like them.
So begins the children’s book, “Bill is No Bully” that will be featured, alongside the real life bovine inspiration, Bill the bucking bull. It’s a story that will appeal to rodeo fans and beyond, written by Cindy Hedeman and presented by Roach Hedeman in a larger-than-life story book anti-bullying campaign brought to El Paso by Tuff Hedeman and Championship Bull Riding.
"CBR was looking for a way to contribute to the communities that host our events, this has been a great way to give back to the fans while educating about such an important message to our children and grandchildren," said CBR CEO Benny Cude.
The former 4 time world titled Hedeman, who in recent years has made a name for himself in the production of great bull riding events, will serve as the “chute boss” and television commentator. Come early and enjoy the “Tailgate Down” pre-party with live music from Dusty Low, along with great food, cold beer, shopping, and autograph opportunities.
In addition to the $30,000 prize monies on the line, the CBR bull riders accumulate points, which qualify them for the World Finals, part of the legendary Cheyenne Frontier Days celebration held in Wyoming next July. At the end of the World Finals, the contestant who has the most points will be crowned the World Champion and receive a $100,000 bonus.
The Casa Ford Tuff Hedeman Championship Bull Riding Presented by Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino will also feature the “other side of the ride”, CBR’s Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge. Bull owners from all around the country will bring three bulls that are featured during the first two rounds of competition. The bulls are competing for points based on their performance in the arena. Additionally, the time the bull rider stays on is added to the bull’s score. At the end of the night, the owner with the three highest-scoring bulls will receive $20,000.
CBR has become known for their action-packed performances that keep fans on the edge of their seats and every time Tuff Hedeman returns to his hometown of El Paso it is always a great show! From having world class bulls matched up with super star riders, to upbeat music and enthusiastic fans and a few show surprises here and there, there is something for everyone.
