$190,000 in Prize Money Brings World Champions to Conroe

CONROE, Texas, October 1, 2015 –Bucking bulls and bull riding will take center stage on Saturday night at the Lone Star Expo Arena where four World Champion Bull Riders, including the number one ranked bull rider in the world, Sage Steele Kimzey, will take the dirt to battle not only the bulls, but 2015 CBR World Champion, Cody Teel, at the Conroe Bull Mania Powered by J5 Tractors, Brought to you by Gullo Ford. The Bull Mania returns to Conroe for the second consecutive year as the fourth stop of Championship Bull Riding’s (CBR) 2016 Mahindra Road to Cheyenne tour.

The Conroe Bull Mania features not only the top 24 ranked bull riders on Saturday night, but 69 two year old bucking bulls are set to compete on Saturday morning in the Championship Futurity Tour Finale, giving the fans a rare glimpse into the future of the bucking bull industry. These future super star bulls are bucked with mechanical dummies simulating a portion of the weight of a bull rider. The Championship Futurity Tour Finale, the two year old bull competition, will begin at 8 am where the winners will split $115,000 in prize monies.

But before the first rider pulls his rope, join Mahindra Young Gun bull riders, Eli Vastbinder and Corey Bailey at the CBR Mahindra Double Down Tractor Giveaway to be held at J5 Tractors on 12087 105 East in Conroe. Enter to win a Mahindra eMax 22 Shuttle tractor. The drawing will be at 12 noon and you have to be present to win.

The rider portion of the Conroe Bull Mania will kick off at 8:00 pm and features the elite bull riders and bulls in a tournament style format that appeals to fans because riders can challenge as many as three bulls in one performance. 24, including Demond Haynes and Craig Jackson from Houston, cowboys will be testing their skills against some of the best bovines in the industry doing their best to hang on for eight seconds. The top 12 from round one advance to a semifinal round where they will do their best to be among the final four riders in the Shoot Out where the bulk of the $30,000 in prize money is paid.

In addition to the prize money, bull riders accumulate points, which qualify them for the World Finals, which will be in Wyoming next July as part of the historical Cheyenne Frontier Days celebration. Those points become very important as the rider who ends the World Finals at the top of the standings will be crowned the CBR world champion and will receive a $100,000 bonus.

Locally owned bulls will be competing in the CBR Bull Team Challenge competition for $45,000 in prize earnings. Cypress, Texas stock contractor William Barnett will have his string of buckers as will the reigning CBR Stock Contractor of the Year and owner of the World Champion Bull Team, Mike Rawson of Martinsville. 2014 World Champion Bull Team owner, Benny Cude of The Woodlands will also be competing.

The CBR featured bull team competition is known as the “other side of the ride”, bucking the crème of the crop in bovine athletes as the CBR Bull Team Challenge provides the bull power for the three bull teams that are featured during the first two rounds of competition. Those bulls receive points for their performance in the arena. Additionally, the time the bull rider stays on is added to the bull’s score. At the end of the night, the owner with the three highest-scoring bulls will receive $20,000.

CBR has become known for their action-packed performances that keep fans on the edge of their seats. That is largely due to the influence of four-time World Champion Bull Rider Tuff Hedeman who coordinates every element and attends to the smallest details. From having great bulls matched up with super star riders, to upbeat music and enthusiastic fans, the Conroe Bull Mania will be second to none.
