Penny Lover Tops the Rank Bull Scores on The Road to Cheyenne

Cheyenne is where history is made. Where the events unfold that define greatness. For contractors it is a place where decades of breeding can become a moment of breakthrough. And in one instant, a new star can be born both inside and outside of the bucking chutes.

The CBR is full of great bulls and the Million Dollar Bull Team format not only ensures great bulls at each CBR event, it has created a whole new playing field for stock contractors to compete with their top animals.

We salute the great bulls competing this year on the Road to Cheyenne Tour, but many times the rankest bull score goes unnoticed to the fans because the bull bucks so hard the rider fails to stay on and make the whistle.  Sometimes the rider and the bull out perform all the other competitors and the rankest score will be rewarded and marked on a qualified ride.

Either way the bull walks away with the title and a distinguished ranking that is not celebrated in the arena, but is revered behind the chutes and on the stat sheets.

It is likely that we have not seen the rankest bull score of the 2014 season. In 2013, the rankest bull score of the season was earned at the World Finals in Cheyenne by Mike White’s B & M Team. 626 Karaoke was rewarded 47 points for his efforts in bucking off Chandler Bownds in 3.92 seconds. With the boost from Karaoke’s bull score, White’s team went on to be crowned the 2013 World Champion Bull Team and collected the $100,000 bonus for their efforts.

It is no surprise to CBR riders and contractors that Penny Lover tops the list earning the rankest score 3 times at 3 different events.  The black and white son of Just A Dream is owned by Benny Cude and remains unridden in CBR competition. Following Penny Lover is bull rider favorite, CR Corpus Red, owned by JC Knapp of Mansfield, Texas who earned his 46.5 on the other side of Trey Benton’s score of 92.5 in Laughlin, NV. The third bull to post a 46.5 score this year was 715 Me Too,  marked in Mulvane, Kansas. Me Too is owned by Benny Cude.

Last week we looked at the top ride scores on tour for the season. As we head toward the finals, let’s take a look at the top bovine performers for each event on The 2014 Road to Cheyenne Tour in descending order from the rankest score of the season.
