Championship Bull Riding Announces 2014 Bull Team Finalists

With less than four weeks remaining before The Road to Cheyenne Tour reaches its final destination at Cheyenne Frontier Days, the race for the top spots on the bucking bull lineups are far too close to call.

On August 29, 2013, forty-eight CBR bull teams began their quest to be crowned the 2014 CBR Bull Team World Champion, and pocket the $100,000 that accompanies the coveted title. Eleven months later the numbers are in and the field is set. The top 20 teams for the finals will face off at the CBR World Finals in Cheyenne beginning on July 21st and one will emerge with the title and the check.

To date, the CBR bull team challenge has paid out $720, 0000 in prize money this season, with $300,000 still in the bank waiting to be awarded at the finals on July 22nd.  When the finals wrap up in Cheyenne, the Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge will have lived up to its name by paying bull team stock contractors a cool $1,120,000 this year.

After ten months of competition, finishing in the number one position is Harris Bucking Bulls (Palestine, Texas). Jeff Harris took the lead after his successful bull team performance in Del Rio at the final event of the season. Amarillo’s JQH team remains in second place to start the midsummer competition to be held simultaneously with the rider division of the CBR World Championship. Craig, Barrett, & Keeton were ranked number one for several months, but fell short by just a few fractions of a point when the bull scores were compiled at the end of the season.  Both teams ended with thirty team points and earnings of $36,000 each during the competitive bull team series on The Road to Cheyenne.

But when the bull teams unload their livestock in Cheyenne they are once again, all equal. Points are discarded and the spreadsheets are wiped clean.  No team has any advantage over another.

In 2010, CBR introduced the Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge. A performance-based competition payout where every bull team franchise owner has a shot at winning part of $100, 00 dollars in added money per event.  This revolutionary way to provide bucking bulls was created to provide stock contractors the opportunity to compete with their bulls for record prize money. The three bull team concept transformed bull riding into a 21st-century game while preserving the integrity of the sport.

Throughout the 2013-2014 Championship Bull Riding on The Road to Cheyenne Tour, each of the 45 bull teams competed at three events. From those events, the top 20 teams were selected to advance to the finals, to be held at the “Daddy of ‘em All,” Cheyenne Frontier Days.

"I would like to congratulate and thank all 48 Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge franchise owners for the success of the league. The enthusiasm that has been created with these revolutionary bucking bull competitions is phenomenal. Good luck to all of the Finalists in Cheyenne", stated CEO of CBR Benny Cude.
