Ali Dee Wins Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Sports Programming

First Lady of the Dallas Mavericks Feeling Positively Presidential

FT. WORTH, Texas – Championship Bull Riding chute reporter Ali Dee was recently honored with an Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Sports Programming. The award came from her work on Mavs Insider, which airs every Friday on Fox Sports Southwest and in the arena prior to the Dallas Mavericks basketball games.

“We have been nominated in the past but haven’t ever won,” said Ali Dee. “I was hoping we would be recognized for our hard work but in no way was I expecting it to happen. When I first got the text from my producer saying we had won I didn’t believe it and thought they were just joking with me. Since they were announcing the winners through Twitter, I got on Twitter to confirm and found out it was true.”

It was definitely a nice award to receive both professionally and personally for Ali Dee.

“It was nice to finally be able to add a trophy of my own to our mantle, as our home is full of all of Cory’s awards and trophies,” noted Ali Dee, whose longtime love is two-time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifier and retired bull rider Cory Melton. “It was very exciting to win and it adds to the credibility of our show, as we can now say the ‘Emmy Award-winning’ show.”

Ali Dee has been involved with the Dallas Mavericks show for six years now and will be entering her third season as the host of the CBR shows. Some might wonder how the two compare.

“I enjoy showcasing the passion that these guys have for their sport. Whether they are 7-foot tall basketball players or 5-foot-5 bull riders, they still have the same passion and it is fun to relay that to the fans,” said Ali Dee. “I have always been a huge sports fan and Cory has really helped me with the bull riding side in terms of what questions to ask and how best to tell each riders story. I really enjoy both.

In addition to her television work, Ali Dee spends a great deal of time working as a Texas country singer, songwriter and guitarist. She came to country music while spending her summers in the mountains of North Carolina as a child listening to everyone from Dolly Parton to the Dixie Chicks. As a live performer she’s shared the stage with country legends like Merle Haggard, Clint Black, Randy Travis and Charley Pride. She was also one of four main characters on CMT’s Texas Women for two seasons.
