Louisiana Cowboy is 35th George Paul Memorial Winner

Perfect weather, perfect crowd and a perfect ending to the 35th George Paul Memorial. Louisiana native, Cole Echols wins the honors of calling himself a “Superbull” winner. Echols had two perfect rides for a score of 177.5. Saturday he scored 89.5 on Apple Dumpling Gangs bull Poison Apple. He was 12th going into Sunday’s event and was flying under the radar as other riders like Cooper Kanngiesser, Hugo Pedrero and Luis Blanco were making all the noise with their rides. It all came down to the short round. Five riders headed into the round with two rides a piece and the crowd anticipated at least one of them would get a third score. Echols only had one qualified ride when he wowed the crowd with a 91 point ride on Curly Bob the Cooper, Scruggs and Allstar bull early on in the round. As the round continued to dwindle down it became evident that Echols would be the winner.

Echols was awarded a custom made George Paul Memorial buckle and $15,000  which was awarded to him by Bobby Paul. Echols now  will forever be known as the 35th GPM winner. George Paul Memorial organizers can be proud of producing another great event.

The Dalton Gang takes home Del Rio Champion honors for the Palace Station Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge.

Bull of the event honors go to Cattle Boys/Cooper and their bull Curly Bob, for Cole Echols 91 point score.

The CINCH CBR Tour moves on to Lafayette, Louisiana and the CAJUNDOME next Saturday May 5th.
