Day 2 at the NFR

Two big stories for the CBR coming out of Las Vegas last night for the second round of NFR. First let’s talk about tie – down roping, yes that’s right tie-down roping. CBR stock contractor and six time tie-down roping champion, Cody Ohl, has won the first two rounds at the NFR and is making a serious run at a seventh gold buckle. His win last night was his forty-fifth go round win at the NFR in his career, an amazing statistic.

In other big news, Lubbock, Texas native, Chandler Bownds scored a whopping 91 points on RMEF Bugle a Robinson Pro Rodeo bull, giving him the lead on the score board and winning the round gold buckle. This is Bownds first appearance at the NFR and he will be taking home the Rookie of the Year honors this year. Bownds has been a regular on the CINCH CBR Tour since he became a pro two years ago and won the CBR Dodge City Championship earlier this year.

Chandler Bownds led the board followed by another regular on the CINCH CBR Tour, Wesley Silcox with Jacob O’Mara rounding out the top three finishers. Bownds’ win last night boosted him to seventh over- all in the world standings. 2011 CBR World Champion, Clayton Foltyn, is fifth overall and still has a fair shot at a second World Title for the year.

There are 8 rounds still to go at NFR and at lot can change. We will keep you posted on the big news straight from Las Vegas  –
