Cheyenne, WY – July 7, 2011 – Captain Morgan and the Laramie County Liquor Association (LCLA) announced today the return of the Captain Morgan “Safe Rides Home” designated drivers program during Cheyenne Frontier Days.

Beginning July 21st, the Captain Morgan brand will distribute 3,500 “Safe Rides Home” taxi vouchers to adult consumers during Frontier Days at nearly 30 participating Cheyenne-area establishments throughout the 10-day festival, which can be used with local transportation providers Capital City Cab, Cowboy Shuttle and T I Shuttle.

The brand distributed more than 1,000 vouchers during last year’s Frontier Days, during which the city of Cheyenne said DUI arrests dropped by 50 percent compared to 2009.

“During Frontier Days, the Cheyenne population more than triples in size, so with more people on our roads and in our great restaurants and drinking establishments we want to make sure our guests are enjoying all the festival has to offer and doing so responsibly,” said Alf Grzegorezczyk, President of the Laramie County Liquor Association (LCLA). “The Captain Morgan ‘Safe Rides Home’ program provides all Frontier Days visitors a valuable designated driver option and we hope everyone takes advantage it.”

Each voucher has a maximum value of $7, which funds rides anywhere within the Cheyenne city limits, and can be used through August 31st – ensuring that Cheyenne residents enjoy a safe summer long after Frontier Days comes to an end.

“Last year’s ‘Safe Rides Home’ program made an undeniable impact in the local community during Frontier Days and this year we’re aiming to distribute more vouchers than ever before,” said TJ Keighley, Captain Morgan Marketing Manager. “Responsible drinking is always top of mind for the Captain Morgan brand, so we encourage all adult consumers to enjoy our products responsibly and when you do, always arrange for a safe ride home."

Additionally, the Morganettes will be in attendance at the Championship Bull Riding events on Monday, July 25th and Tuesday, July 26th distributing “Safe Rides Home” vouchers, with the Captain himself making a special appearance at Tuesday night’s event.

Vouchers can also be picked up at the Depot Visitor Center (121 W. 15th Street, Ste. 202) at any time during Frontier Days.

Eligible consumers must be 21 or over.  Vouchers have no cash value and are non-transferable. Each voucher is good toward $7 of the total fare. There are no refunds for unused portions, and the voucher does not count towards driver gratuity.

As always, Captain Morgan reminds consumers to drink responsibly – Captain’s Orders!
