Texan makes “Push”, South Dakotan “Pulls” Points, yet neither “Lifts” past Kansas in the Mahindra Texas Swing

Fort Worth, Texas (May 11, 2011) – The world’s number one selling tractor, a Mahindra, can “Push More, Pull More and Lift More” – but right now, nobody can “Ride More” than Manhattan, Kansas’s Lucas Dick – especially in Texas!   Two successful rides in Lufkin, coupled with another two successful rides at the legendary Tuff Hedeman Championship Challenge, in Fort Worth, put Lucas Dick in a one ride lead for the $10,000 Mahindra Tractors Texas Swing Bonus.

Going into the most prestigious Bull Riding event on earth, the Kansas cowboy had a tremendous opportunity to transform a slim lead, to a commanding one, with the chance to ride four bulls at the George Paul Memorial Bull Riding.  With his wife expecting to deliver their second daughter just any day, they collectively decided last Thursday that he should leave Kansas and head for Del Rio.  “I have always wanted to win the George Paul” said Lucas, “So my wife and I decided together that if she hadn’t had her by Friday morning, I would head to Del Rio”.

On Saturday, the soon to be father had things going his way.  Lucas made two great rides logging 170 points and catapulting him to a 154 point lead in the Mahindra Tractors Texas Swing.  With a shot at two more scores on Sunday following – people were starting to think that he would put the “nail in the coffin” – so to speak.  “I knew I was leading the Mahindra Texas Swing, and I thought if I just focused on riding my bulls, the rest would take care of itself” added Lucas.

However, Lucas stumbled on Sunday when he was unable to log a qualified ride in the long round.  Doing so, kept him from advancing and the opportunity at a fourth bull.  Lucas added, “On the way home Sunday, I started to think, man – I could’ve sealed the deal on the Swing bonus with another two rides today.  With these guys, a one ride lead going into Lubbock isn’t quite enough”.

Meanwhile, at the George Paul, there were several sharks just waiting on the opportunity to strike. The likes of Bradley Harris, Chandler Bownds, JW Harris and Ardie Maier seized the opportunity to stack on the points.

Most noticeably, Ardie Maier took advantage of four bulls in Del Rio. The only man to make four qualified rides at the George Paul, Ardie’s 354.5 point total, shot him from 38th position in the Texas Swing Standings all the way to 3rd place. “My main goal is to ride all of my bulls on the way to a Championship.  If I do that, I will have a great shot at the $10,000 Mahindra bonus”. At the same time, JW Harris also logged three scores this weekend and both he and Ardie are within one ride of the lead.

The Mahindra Tractors Texas Swing wraps up in Lubbock, Texas at the Mahindra Tractors CBR West Texas Showdown August 13, 2011.  The Texas Swing came down to the final ride last year… Stay tuned…
