JW Harris Makes a Clean Sweep on Day One of Del Rio

The first day of the 34th Annual George Paul Memorial Bull Riding brought a sold out crowd and world class bull riding to Del Rio, Tex.

Three-time and reigning PRCA World Champion, JW Harris, made a clean sweep of the day’s action by winning the long round and the short go. After riding Little Eagle of Klein Brothers and Sparks’ for 91 in the long round, JW won the short round aboard Chad Drury’s Air Patrick with a 90.50.  If he can keep this streak alive and win Sunday’s event, he’ll pocket a $10,000 bonus for winning both days.

This is also a big weekend for the stock contractors, as Del Rio is the Wild Card event for the Palace Station Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge. The top two teams from the Wild Card event will be invited to Cheyenne Frontier Days for the Bull Team Finals. After the first day of competition, the team of FNO Bucking Bulls/Chris Knapp is the leading bull team competition.

Results from Saturday have been posted under Del Rio’s details on the Events page. Sunday’s competition gets underway at 3:00 CST and it’s sure to be another exciting round of bull riding action. Be sure to check out Tuff’s Matches to get the inside scoop on the top rides to watch for.
