Interview With 2010 CBR Bullfighter of the Year Brandon Loden

Brandon Loden hasn't been fighting bulls for very long, but he has quickly become one of the best in the business.  He put his body on the line to make a number of great saves this past year.  At the 2010 CBR Tour Finale in Kansas City, he was recognized as the 2010 Waggin Train Dog Treats CBR Bullfighter of the Year.  Unfortunately for Loden, he suffered some injuries in Kansas City.  Those injuries currently have him sidelined, but he will be back later this year.  You can bet he will be better than ever.

I recently interviewed Brandon Loden.  I asked him about his great 2010 season, his start as a bullfighter, his injury status, and much more.  If you have anything to add, please visit our Facebook page and voice your opinion.  Also, you can always email me at:  Enjoy!

Cody:  Brandon, thanks for taking time to do this interview.  I'll start at the beginning.  When did you realize you wanted to be a professional bullfighter, and what made you want to do it full time?

Brandon:  I realized I wanted to be a bullfighter while I worked for Harlan Robertson.  We bucked bulls once a week and never had a bullfighter.  One day, I just started doing it.  I really loved it, and that's the reason I started doing it full time.  It's a lot better than having a real job!

Cody:  What did it mean to you to win the 2010 Waggin Train Dog Treats Bullfighter of the Year Award?

Brandon:  It was awesome to win the Bullfighter of the Year Award.  I definitely didn't expect to win the award the first year of my career.  It was an amazing experience.

Cody:  You suffered a knee injury at the 2010 CBR Tour Finale.  Tell me a little bit about the injury, and when can fans expect to see you back in the arena?

Brandon:  I tore my ACL, MCL, and calf muscle in addition to cracking my tibia.  I had surgery in early November.  I'm going to be back in the arena in May, and I can't wait to be back doing my job.

Cody:  That's great news for CBR fans!  List some of the bulls who are notorious for giving the bullfighters a tough time.

Brandon:  Directory Assistance (Box K Cattle Company) and Wompus (Benny Cude).  That being said, they are all capable of giving us a tough time at any given moment.

Cody:  What was the worst wreck you saw during the 2010 CBR season?

Brandon:  The worst wreck I saw all year and probably the worst one I've ever seen in person was Neil Holmes on Dodge Shaker in Huron, SD.

Cody:  On the other side of things, what was your favorite ride during the 2010 CBR season?

Brandon:  There were so many great rides this year, and I can't pick just one.  A lot of guys made awesome rides.

Cody:  Name some of the CBR bulls you enjoy watching.

Brandon:  Black Gold and Pokerface.

Cody:  Name some of the CBR riders you enjoy watching.

Brandon:  I enjoy watching all the guys, and I love seeing great bull rides.  Any of the top-35 guys who come to CBR events can make one at any moment.

Cody:  What do you enjoy doing when you have free time?

Brandon:  I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.  I also enjoy working cattle.

Cody:  If you weren't a bullfighter, what would your profession be?

Brandon:  I would be working for a stock contractor going to rodeos.

Cody:  Brandon, thanks again for taking the time to do the interview, and I want to wish you luck with your recovery.  Everyone is looking forward to your return.  In closing, is there anyone you want to thank?  If so, you can do that now.

Brandon:  I would like to thank my family for being behind me.  I would also like to thank everyone at the CBR for giving me the chance to be a bullfighter for the organization.
