Chase Outlaw Kicks Off 2011 With Win in Monroe

Fort Worth, TX (January 2, 2010)- Championship Bull Riding started the New Year in style Saturday night in Monroe, LA, and it was teenager Chase Outlaw who found the winner's circle.  Outlaw rode his long-round bull for 87.5 points before riding Melted Ice for 87 points in the Championship Round.  The 174.5 points was plenty to get him the victory.  The win moved him all the way into the top 20 in the season standings.  Stetson Lewis also rode both his bulls and finished one point back with 173.5 points, and he is now 10th in the standings.

The other big story Saturday night was Ryan Shanklin.  He was the only other rider to cover both bulls, and he finished third with 171.5 points.  He has started 2011 extremely well, and the strong finish was enough to move him to the top spot in the season standings.  Shanklin has made an early statement and will be one to watch for this year.

Cody Graves went 1-for-2 in Monroe to finish fourth with 89 points.  Chance Smart finished fifth with 88 points, while Aaron Pass finished sixth after recently returning from an injury.

The CBR will head to Lebanon, MO, next week for another Horizon Series event.  Keep checking for news, updates, match-ups, etc.  Also, please visit the Championship Bull Riding Facebook page if you haven't already.
