2010 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo: Day Nine Recap

Night nine of the bull riding at this year's Wrangler National Finals Rodeo started a little slow, but things heated up towards the end of the round.  Wesley Silcox picked up his first round win at this year's WNFR after a 90-point ride on Playmate.  J.W. Harris continued his dominance in Vegas as he rode Insaniac for 89.5 points to finish second in the round.  Bobby Welsh finished third after an 89-point ride on Hot Wired.  Corey Navarre finished fourth with 86.5 points, while CBR rider Steve Woolsey rounded out the top five with 83.5 points.

J.W. Harris is now 7-for-9 at this year's WNFR, and he clinched the average title with his ride last night.  Cody Whitney is still second after riding five out of his first nine bulls.  Corey Navarre rode his fifth bull last night, and he is sitting third in the aggregate.  Bobby Welsh is making a late run and is now fourth, while Wesley Silcox moved into the top five in the average with last night's round win.

Harris is still first in the World Standings by $12,000, and he has all but locked up his third consecutive gold buckle.  Silcox moved a little closer last night, but he is well behind in the average race.  Tyler Smith is sitting third in the World Standings, while Shawn Hogg and Clayton Williams are fourth and fifth, respectively.

The final day of the 2010 WNFR is tonight, and this year's PRCA World Champion Bull Rider will be crowned.  You can catch the action on ESPN2 starting at 9:30PM Central Time.  Keep checking CBRBull.com for news, updates, recaps, etc.

Two Key Match-Ups For Round Ten
Bobby Welsh on King of Hearts has the potential to be a lot of points.  Welsh has moved up to fourth in the average after a slow start, and he has a legitimate shot at finishing second with a good ride tonight.  King of Hearts is owned by Corey & Horst Rodeo.  He has been one of the best PRCA bulls in 2010, and his trip is usually pretty wild.  Welsh will have to bring his best, but he has been riding very well the last few rounds.  If he rides this bull, he will be 90 points or more.

Shawn Hogg on Big Iron is another intriguing match-up in round 10.  Hogg has only ridden two bulls at this year's WNFR, but he has been close a number of times.  Big Iron is a bull owned by Four L and Diamond S Rodeo.  He is always tough to get by, but he is still one the guys love to draw.  Hogg bucked off this bull in April, but I expect things to go different this time.  He should ride him and finish off his WNFR in style by going over 90 points.
