Key Match-Ups For 2010 CBR Tour Finale: Night One

The 2010 CBR Tour Finale kicks off tonight in Kansas City, and there are plenty of storylines to follow.  Luke Kelly holds a commanding lead in the season standings, and he is the front-runner for the World Title.  The rest of the field will be trying to move up in the standings and finish in the top five.  I've put together a list of eight key match-ups for tonight's long round.  There are plenty of great riders and bulls, and we should see some 90-point rides on night one of the Tour Finale.  If you have anything to add, please visit our Facebook page or email me at:  codythrasher@cbrbull.com.  Enjoy!

Clint Craig vs. Like Mike
Clint Craig is currently seventh in the season standings, but things haven't gone his way since winning the George Paul Memorial in May.  He has been battling injuries for the last few months, and that hasn't helped the situation.  His long-round bull tonight is Like Mike, a bull who will be on the Shippy/Brand X/Amber Luedke team tonight.  In seven CBR outs this season, he has been ridden four times for an average ride score of 88.9 points.  If Craig could pick a bull to help him get out of his slump, this would be the one.  That being said, Like Mike will buck him off if he doesn't bring his A-Game.
My Pick:  Like Mike

Elliot Jacoby vs. Schuffler
Elliot Jacoby is second in the season standings, and he will have a lot to ride for this weekend in Kansas City.  His draw for tonight's long round is Schuffler, a bull who will be on the Vogele/McKeller/Thurin team tonight.  In four trips this season, the bull has been ridden once for 87.5 points.  He has bucked off his last three riders though.  Jacoby will be under pressure to maintain his spot in the standings, and this is one that can put him in great shape heading into the Championship Round.  He should be able to get this one ridden.
My Pick:  Elliot Jacoby

Craig Jackson vs. After Party
Craig Jackson returned last weekend in Lubbock after missing some time due to injury.  He went 1-for-2 including a 90-point ride and long-round win.  His long-round draw tonight is After Party, a bull who will be on Team Texas tonight.  He has been out twice in the CBR in 2010, and he was ridden once for 89 points.  He has also been one of the best PRCA bulls this year.  Jackson's traveling partner, Johnathan Brown, rode this bull in Las Vegas, so he should be familiar with After Party.  However, this bull has been getting ranker every time out, and he will be tough to handle.
My Pick:  After Party

Jarrod Craig vs. Ronnie
Jarrod Craig is currently 11th in the season standings, and he has been pretty consistent the last couple months.  His draw for tonight's long round is Ronnie, a bull who will be on the Pro Bull Nutrition team tonight.  In six CBR outs in 2010, this bull has been ridden three times for an average ride score of 89.7 points.  This is definitely one of the best draws in tonight's round, and Craig will have a great shot to win the long round or finish in the top two or three.
My Pick:  Jarrod Craig

Riggin Phillips vs. Curly Bob
Riggin Phillips is sixth in the season standings, and he will be looking to make a move into the top five over the next couple days.  His long-round draw tonight is Curly Bob, a bull who will be on the Cooper/All Star team tonight.  In four outs in 2010, this bull has been ridden once for 92 points.  Jake Littlefield won the Fort Stockton event on Curly Bob, and the three-year-old just keeps improving every trip.  Phillips will have to be ready for anything and everything, and if he rides this one, he will be near the top of the leaderboard.
My Pick:  Curly Bob

Chandler Bownds vs. Wompus
Chandler Bownds is 28th in the season standings, and he is coming off a big fourth-place finish in Lubbock last weekend.  His draw for tonight's long round is Wompus, a bull who will be on the Cude Bucking Bulls team tonight.  In seven CBR trips this season, the bull has been ridden three times for an average ride score of 88.7 points.  Bownds had this bull in Del Rio, and the animal athlete won the battle.  The young Texan will be looking for payback tonight, and he has been riding well enough to get the job done.
My Pick:  Chandler Bownds

J.W. Harris vs. Little White Out
J.W. Harris won the CBR Tour Finale last year, and he will be looking to win at least one night this weekend.  His draw for tonight's long round is Little White Out, a bull who will be on the Cody Ohl/Circle T Arena/Meazell team tonight.  In three outs this season, this bull has been ridden once for 87.5 points.  Since then, however, he has continued to mature and get better.  He was marked 45 points in his last out in Bossier City.  Harris has had another great season, and this one should be one of the highlights of night one in Kansas City.
My Pick:  J.W. Harris

Neil Holmes vs. Boomerang
Neil Holmes will be returning tonight after a nasty injury in Huron last month.  The Houston native had a really good season going, and he is still 15th in the season standings.  His long-round bull tonight is Boomerang, a bull owned by Lyndal Hurst.  In 10 outs this season, this bull has been ridden seven times for an average ride score of 87.6 points.  Holmes was 85.5 points on Boomerange in Las Vegas, but there has to be some serious rust after being out a month.  This one could go either way, but something is telling me to pick the bull this time.
My Pick:  Boomerang
