Luke Kelly Wins Event Title and Mahindra Tractors Texas Swing in Lubbock

Fort Worth, TX (October 2, 2010)- The crowd at the City Bank Coliseum was great, and the fans in Lubbock were treated to an exciting night of Championship Bull Riding.  Luke Kelly has been very solid in 2010, and things got a lot better tonight in Lubbock.  Not only did the number one rider in the season standings pick up the event win, he also won the $10,000 Mahindra Tractors Texas Swing bonus.  The total winnings will put some distance between him and the rest of the field heading into the CBR Tour Finale next weekend.

Kelly was 89.5 points on Crown Royal in the long round, and that placed him second heading into the Championship Round.  He picked Dakota Magic's Double Scoop, and the two combined for 90.5 points and the victory.  The Alabama bull rider has won two events in the last month and a half, and he has put himself in great position to win the 2010 CBR World Title.  Bronson Butcher, who is coming off a win in Woodward, finished a half-point back with 179.5 points.  He was 89 points in the long round on Wonder Boy, and he rode Carson's Big Rig for 90.5 in the Championship Round.

Craig Sasse finished third with 179 points after a 90.5-point ride on Directory Assistance in the short go.  Chandler Bownds picked up a big fourth-place finish after riding both his bulls and finishing with 178.5 points.  Bownds was 35th in the season standings coming into Lubbock, and the finish will go a long way in securing his spot next weekend in Kansas City.  Cody White rounded out the top five by riding both bulls and finishing with 177 points.  White also finished second in the Mahindra Tractors Texas Swing.

Dakota Magic's Double Scoop was named bull of the event after he combined with Kelly for 90.5 points in the Championship Round.  Going into the event, he trailed Cude Energy by $7 in the Bull of the Year race.  The Championship Round and event win will move Double Scoop into first place heading into Kansas City.

The 2010 CBR season concludes next weekend in Kansas City with the Tour Finale.  Keep checking for news, updates, previews, key match-ups, recaps, etc.  Also, be sure to visit the Facebook page if you haven't already.
