Lubbock-Cooper senior carving out career on bull-riding circuit

Imagine you are on the Championship Bull Riding tour and have a permit in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. Now imagine you have done all this and are only 18 years old. Then your name would be Chandler Bownds, a senior at Lubbock-Cooper High School. Winning money and performing in front of thousands of people, along with such trappings of success as requests for autographs and posing for pictures with fans, could easily turn a young man's head. Chandler's mother, Janci Wilson, said her son is so humble about his success many people at his school didn't know he was a bull-rider, reported the A-J's Joe Gulick. Not only has Chandler accomplished goals many adults never could achieve, he has received a full rodeo scholarship to Panola College in Carthage and signed an advertising endorsement with Cinch western wear. Now who says high school students are lazy and unmotivated? Not us.
